My latest poem. Written for my six-month anniversary with my boyfriend, but I never gave it to him. He abandoned me shortly after.

Fay had spent long, solitary hours pondering the situation, wondering if it was love. Several times she had tried convincing herself it was so, but even through his kisses Fay felt little more than strong, loyal friendship. It made her feel rotten inside.

She wrung her hands, desperately searching for something to say. Fay silently cursed the others for leaving her. Brushing her fringe to the side of her forehead, she looked at Peter momentarily—his blue eyes were staring into hers—and smiled slightly, nervously. He took her silence as an opportunity to steer the conversation where he wanted it to go.
“How would you like it,” Peter began with a lopsided grin, “if I showed you around the castle? As king, I have access to everywhere—and as an explorer, I have discovered places not known,” he said, lowering his voice, “to the general public.”
Fay giggled at his usage of such a common phrase in this manner. She did not know what to think about him, and though she was nervous, she steeled up her courage. It was about time for an adventure! Finally, Fay nodded at him. “That sounds delightful. I haven’t seen much of the castle yet, I’m afraid. From what little I have, though, it looks lovely.”
Peter smiled widely, looking charismatic and charming. He offered an arm to her, and she held his elbow in her small hand. He began to talk, chattering about the exciting expeditions he had been on, as they exited the Great Hall and turned to the right. Continuing on their way, Fay listened silently to Peter as he explained. Neither noticed when Edmund, who had been walking the opposite way, turned with a curiously stoic face in time to see them disappear around the corner.

“I didn’t expect so many people to be here”
“Fay, darling, you are the worst kept secret Narnia has ever known.”
“But everyone is looking at me.”
“Well,” Lucy whispered slyly. “I suppose that is because they like what they see.”

The last sentence of Peter’s letter dominated her mind: Narnia, and myself, are at your disposal. Strange words from a strange man. Fay blew out the candles and retired to bed, wondering all along what King Peter’s note could bring.

Wonderful and terrible, it patrols my senses.
Salty tears and painful chest,
Wracking sobs, the strain of a forced silence;
The strange feeling of violated mind.

I love that your cheeks colour like posies on your pale skin when we embrace. I love that when you are angry, you have never looked lovelier. I love that I always find strands of your hair lingering after you have left, as a precious reminder of you when that moment has long past. I love the scent of your skin after we have walked in the rain: how it reminds me of our first embrace. Most of all, darling Fay, I love *you* - and oh, how much of my life are in those three words. You *are* those three words. I only wish that there was a stronger way to express what I feel for you, but I fear nothing would be sufficient for the all-encompassing feeling that is present in my every nerve when I think of you.
